Default License Plate Light

I bought a 2015 QX80, and could not figure out how to replace the license plate bulbs. Could not find any articles or videos online. Could anyone help?

The QX80 service manual is available online if you search on those keywords. Doc INT page 39 covers removal of the back door trim and EXL page 141 (2014) or page 171 (2015) covers the light bulb removal.

Did you end up changing the light yourself?

Google will help you find what you need. I've already posted how to find the service manual. You're going to need to remove the panel on the inside of the lift gate. Parts of this video should help: https://youtu.be/2dXtS4rOHWI

If you have a QX80, you have a 4 yr/60k mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, tell the dealer to replace it. Not sure a license plate bulb should be blowing in 2 yrs.

Bulbs like batteries are those things that do go from time to time and can be random in the sequence they go bad in. Rarely ever is an issue like this is attached to an electrical issue. So go to the dealership, have them change the bulb and see what happens going forward, if blowing bulbs become an issue... you have a bigger issue.

It looks to me like the entire hatch interior panel needs to be removed to gain access to the tag lights and bulbs. Lots and lots of plastic rivets and push pins. GOOD LUCK!
