I would assume at some point that someone will come up with a no mod bolt on aftermarket kit with DTL's and module. I would like the DTL's as well. Hurry up and wait....

I just wouldn't depend on it to happen soon enough.
It will be something that takes time. Might be best to see a professional that will custom rig one up.

You could probably make your own bolt on kit with a DRL module and a DRL kit that will fit on the QX80

Yeah that's possible.
To have it done easily you can always visit some aftermarket lighting shop that installs them. im sure they can wire up something easily.

I just turn the headlights on, and leave them on...all the time. Once I lock the doors and leave, they shut off by themselves in just a few seconds. Consequently, there is no way to leave even the parking lights on with the car locked.

Probably the best way to go about this and considering that, it beats doing all the running around, time and money required to get DRL lights.
