Do you think its worth it for companies to make hybrid versions of these large vehicles to make the mpg slightly more palatable?

people dont buy these vehicles for their MPGs. If anything a Hybrid version would turn people away...

Plus the weight of these vehicles is a deterrent to Hybrid tech. the electric energy needed to get these land cruisers rolling would decimate the battery before you've even left the neighborhood...

Maybe QX80 could benefit from a setup similar to the GM vehicles where up to 4 cylinders can be shut down while cruising to limit the guzzling...

I personally think hybrids would work.

They help with mileage and I don't think anyone is HAPPY to pay for the gas.

They can keep the V8 and retrofit a hybrid engine in for low speed traffic.

I've got 5 kids and a 7500 lb travel trailer to tow..

We are limited on options.

Infinity QX80 --- good styling..

Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator --- big ugly box..

Cadillac Escalade --- too expensive..

Unfortunate.. the GMC Yukon/Chevy Suburban only has a 6500 lb towing capacity.. not an option..

We went with the 2014 QX80

I was looking at the following :Lexus LX570 (overpriced, can't really use the last row for a car seat), Tahoe (don't like the design and too many of them out there), Suburban (same as Tahoe), Escalade (overpriced and does not handle as well as Infiniti). Infiniti QX80 is priced lower and does more for me than all other SUVs in this class.

Same here with the other “Japanese Escalade”. Loved the LX since it debute with the 4.7l V8. But couldn’t find any decent 2013+ that match what we paid for our 2017 Qx80. At the end, I’m glad we got the qx80. The LX570 split tailgate along with the 3rd row seat folding to the side may seem cool but impractical for everyday usage.

Hi All,

New to the Forum.

I just bought a 2014 QX80 to replace my 2006 Escalade. I haven't driven it much yet but the most obvious thing I noticed right away is the Escalade rides much smoother. The QX rides more like a regular truck.

Does anyone have any insight into the longevity of the QX? I'm hoping it will match that of the Yukon/Escalade platform.

Pretty much everything I've read about the QX80 suggests it stands up toe to toe with Escalade.
