Just purchased 2014 QX80 and looking for a mod to add DTL's. not sure why they felt Canada should be the only vehicles that should have these as standard, but I would like them. Any thoughts?

There might be a way to activate it but everything I search has me confused

THey also sell DRL modules you can retrofit into the lighting system.. But also complicated

Or you can get those LED DRL strip kits like this

And wire it to your stock light switch.

its probably the easiest option

if you are VERY good with wiring you could probably enable the DRL somehow

I know they sell DRL modules that you can wire into the car.
But all of that gets kind of tricky.
it is, especially if you're leasing or plan on selling it in a few years, it will be a very easy to undo it when it the time comes. Last thing you want to do it start chopping up and cutting into the bumper

Being from Canada I guess I won't have to worry about this. I don't understand why they would offer LED running lights standard on the QX80 to Canada but not the US.

I would get a professional to do it though. I wouldn't want to mess something up and then not have warranty to cover it.

You could always start a new circuit wired to what would be the DRL bulb and make a switch on your dash

I've done that before on a car that didn't have DRLs. Its not as convenient as the DRLs dont turn on by themselves.. But they are DRLs nonetheless.

I just turn the headlights on, and leave them on...all the time. Once I lock the doors and leave, they shut off by themselves in just a few seconds. Consequently, there is no way to leave even the parking lights on with the car locked.

Probably the best way to go about this and considering that, it beats doing all the running around, time and money required to get DRL lights.
