Diesel Engine

First of all QX80 needs a diesel, its main competitor the Mercedes GL comes with several powerplants on tap, one of them including an efficient v6 diesel mill.

Turns out Infiniti already has the necessary pieces at home. The first diesel engine ever produced by the Nissan Renault alliance was the V6 DCI engine, it was designed to be a global powerplant.

Figures on the DCI are capabile of reaching 265 hp and 405 lb-fts of twist, more then enough to tow the family boat or shuttle aparky to the vet ;)

I think that a diesel QX80 makes more sense than a hybrid QX80. maybe its just because I associate the sound and rumble of a diesel engine with larger cars. I think that people would buy it though. It s hard to convince any car company that they should bring diesel to NA though.

make enough noise and they will. Never a way to argue with demand!

On another note theres talk Chevy is resurrecting the 4.5L Duramax diesel project they shelved when brokeness settled in. It could show up in the Silvy/Sierra and the Escalade/Tahoe/Suburban....
There's only so much noise we as consumers can make.
What will get them to make a move on it is seeing the rise in diesels from other car makers. They won't want to feel left out and get shut out.

not true. Express your desires and then put your money where your mouth is. If you want a diesel dont go and buy a petrol model. Simple as that. They see their volumes drop off, they do some quick research and find out that consumers have been asking for diesels...
Depending on what you want and can afford you may not find it with a diesel engine, some people just settle for petrol until theirs a diesel to their liking.
They should just throw in the V8 cummins diesel in it. call it a day

And I have no idea why cummins engines are painted all red.

I actually think it's cool like that being all red. better than looking like a normal engine.
I'm not sure if the engine in the cars are actually red. Or if its just the photos online.
It could just be a demo we're looking at here. I never seen a cummins engine in person in a truck, so can't say much about that
Cummins Diesels...as sophisticated as a common brick..the same color too.
