I don't really think that people would want a performance version of the Infiniti QX80. If there was a time to do that it would be back when hummers were driving around city streets still. The fuel economy would tank with a performance model and it is already not so great. I think that people would be more likely to have the QX80 for family trips and such, and then a second vehicle that is performance oriented if they want to drive for the sake of driving.

I am not comparing the QX80 to anything.

I am asking if there are any high performance full sized SUVs ...

It seems like the GL63AMG is the only one. Maybe the Jeep GC SRT? But nowhere near the luxury of the Mercedes.

Seems like a one man show to me

Maybe if there was a IPL QX80 with a supercharged V8 it would compete with GL63 sales?

Probably not.. But just dreaming here. Forum is too quiet.

Bowler makes a hi-po version of the Range Rover that yo can buy for street use. Its basically a rally truck with turn signals...

The closest to a full size Hi-Po SUV would either have to be the Grand Cherokee SRT, there may also be a Durano SRT but it would be similar if not identical to GC. The Raptor is pretty insane but its a full size pickup..

BMW has the X5M but thats more inline with QX70 not QX80. Cayenne Turbo S is also stoooooopid fast, Oh and don't forget the G65 AMG

I think that it makes more sense to make an off-road capable QX80 before a performance model. SUVs are supposed to be able to take on harsh terrain and haul a lot. It fits better with the original purpose of the vehicle. A performance version of the QX80 would feel forced.

Plus, Infiniti has a large laundry list of other things that it has to do before this would ever be considered.

Sure there are high performance SUVs but none that are quite as big as the QX80. The key word is "full-size." Has a company ever made a performance version of a full-size SUV? I'm just not sure that it has ever been done ever. And that may point to the fact that it wouldn't be profitable.

what part of X5M, X6M, G63, Cherokee SRT, Cayenne Turbo S are not performance SUVs? What are you guys looking for a supercharged Escalade? LOL

This is as close as you are getting, it can do off road and performance.

@Helios Hi-Po versions are more profitable, tack on a few tarty bits and sell for $40K premium...

But my number one question to everyone is why... Why should Infiniti do an offroad capable QX80, why should they do a performance version... I just don't understand, are you guys seeing unmet demand somewhere.... Are you seeing QX80s caught up in mud puddles or at your local drag strip?

BTW, an SUV version of the Raptor is very possible, just have a look at this:

Just a matter of Ford expanding on that, getting that company on board with them.
