So whats important to a luxury buyer, hoonability, customizability, efficiency?

NO.

Fancy, we want FANCY. Ok, lets have a look.

Infiniti QX80:

You can tell the QX80 hasn't received significant interior tweeks since 2008, its old bones are showing. Thats not to say the QX80s interior is poorly done, not at all its quite engaging and visually comfortable, its just done well for 2008. We're missing 5 years please.

Mercedes GL:

Classy Mercedes, stuffy, but classy. Mercedes interiors always remind me of a law school graduation or an opulent industrialists funeral...

Range Rover:

Well the British already dress them selves well enough so i expect them to outfit their vehicles with similar panache. They do not disappoint, do you think i can order just the interior for LR? Its appointed beautifully but the mechanically the Range Rover is already broken. Dodgy.

Lexus LX 570:

Sucks. Oh, you wanted more. Well... it sucks the best?

Based on pure interior I'd go Range Rover, QX80, GL, Lexus. If i had to choose a vehicle based on pure function its GL, QX80, Lexus, Range. If i had to combine interior, exterior, maintenance, customer service, performance and reliability I'd go QX80, GL, Lexus, Range Rover.

Pretty clothes never cover up a broken soul, er, engine.

For me the Mercedes-Benz GL and the Range Rover have the nicest interiors. I might like the Lexus interior better if it had a different combination of leather and wood accents. The QX80 doesn't look bad, it just looks, as Fleetwood said, like its missing 5 years.

Since Infiniti is updating all its QX range vehicles with its new design language, i thin i want to try to wait out the redesign instead of jumping the gun and getting the current model.

Anyone know when the redesign could happen?

to be honest I;m not entirely sure if it is going to happen, the QX80 is such a slow seller anyways, not to mention Infiniti needs to get under the CAFE hard deck, and QX80 is the one vehicle Infinti produces that actually spits on fuel economy.

So i wouldn't be surprised if Infiniti quietly disappears the QX80 one morning. but i also wouldnt be surprised at a redesign...

The way that the Lexus's seats fold to the side instead of flat to the floor makes it not as good for cargo space. As opposed to the Infiniti which has seats that fold completely flat. Is there any advantage to having the seats fold up and to the side? I am guess ing it has something to do with the design of the Lexus. I bet they didn't have room to fold them down into the floor of the back.

I believe this is because Toyota builds their land cruiser SUV's as land rover-like vehicles so considering the things you would need to take with you when going on long off-road journeys or on trails or even road trips, the side folding seats are better

It has to do with the way the vehicle is constructed. Its a big body on frame SUV based on the Land Cruiser. the platform is pretty much unchanged since.... forever perhaps....

What kills me about the Lexus is They try to play it off as a serious off road play thing, you could take this thing on safari if you wanted too. Thats what I love about the QX80, it makes no promises like that, it knows people arent going off road and it doesnt try to sell them the image of maybe, possibly, i could want to go off roading.

No, no QX80 knows its a suburban rat and proud.

I"m not sure but I much prefer that of the QX.

THe Lexus just looks like a mess with all the seats like that.

Doesnt even look like you can fit anything.

considering the Lexus is the most expensive the interior is a miss.
oh yea a big time miss. Most of these vehicles wont be used for any serious cargo hauls save the odd road trip or kids moving into dorms but the Lexus takes away that ability right off the bat. you easily loose a foot of width in the back because the seats fold so stupid.

QX80 looks to have the most usable third row of the bunch, I dont even think the Range has a third row.

Actually you would be surprised at how messed up interiors on these can be, since a lot of people that can afford these can afford to repair them even if it's expensive can do so. Even to clean them, reason why a lot of these can be found to be messy, they just wait for their detailer to get to it.

For the interior, I usually use steam cleaning, as it spares the skin and care is safer. According to the experts at Do not buy the Optima steamer before reading this , the Fortador steam cleaner is the way to go. This versatile tool can clean various surfaces in your car, such as leather seats and carpets, without the need for harsh chemicals. Compared to the Optima steamer, the Fortador has been proven to be more reliable and have a longer lifespan.
