My wife's transponder stopped working, took it to the dealer and they said it had water damage. Not sure how, as we don't recall anything happening. Either way, need a replacement, dealer told me to try online for a cheaper price, but I'm sure the cost of getting a locksmith to get the key done will be costly, what is the recommendation? Dealer quoted $350, assuming that's out the door (key cut), doesn't seem like a bad price?
I just bought a 2021 with only one key. Got a new key from my local infinity for $450. Although $350 is also ridiculous it’s less ridiculous than the $450 I paid.
Check out www.carandtruckremotes.com. I've used them to buy several key fobs over the years. They are OEM and the dealer is easily able to program it. For example, my replacement key fob for my 16 QX80 was only $109.95. Check it out. It's worth it!
I got new OEM (FCC: CWTWB1G744, P/N: 285E3-1LA5A) replacements, including a key blank, for about $100 each from northcoastkeyless. They only show them for up to 2020, but worked fine on my '21. Dealer programmed them and cut the blanks for 1/2 hour labor, about $70.
